Baby boomers may have been a bit slow to use the internet to find a date compared to their younger counterparts, but they are catching on now in a big way now by joining an established over 50 dating site.
Tens of thousands of new over 50 dating adults join an online service for the first time each month to find their mate. What used to be unthinkable for seniors is now common place.
Rather than join a site that has all age demographics, many older singles are deciding to join age specific sites. One reason to do so is to avoid dealing with younger age groups who may only be interested in finding a ?cougar? for a short term sexual based relationship.
As people age they tend to want to find a mate who is more serious about committing to a long term relationship.
One of the most popular dating sites for baby boomers is one that is celebrating it?s sixth year online: Over50Match.com. The owner of Over 50 Match dot com, Tim Phelan, says he knows senior online dating works from personal experience. ?I myself, have met some terrific women online.
In fact it is now my preferred way to meet women by far. Plus, I personally know many people who have found their husbands, wives, boyfriends or girlfriends through an online dating service. Plus, I?m sure everyone by now has a family member or friend who has met a mate online.
This is one of the reasons I believe that the older population is feeling better about using the internet to find someone.?
Phelan then goes on to offer a few valuable online dating tips for seniors: ?What makes it work for me is the convenience aspect and the large pool of women to choose from now days. I just sort through the profiles, work on my profile, send out some messages and wait for responses. Patience is so important.
Also, when looking at the profiles of others I noticed I was drawn to those who spent time and put thought into writing about themselves and uploading photos. So, I did the same and I found out I had more success after doing so.?
