FundingPost (http://www.FundingPost.com) proudly announces the start of its sixth annual Pitching Across America(TM) competition today. FundingPost, which has been introducing entrepreneurs to investors for over 8 years, established the competition in 2004. In the past 5 years more than 500 Venture Capital Funds and Angel Investors have participated as judges, voting on over 1,000 business summaries from emerging companies nationwide. They have been the largest Venture Capital competitions ever organized. The Pitching Across America competition not only showcases emerging companies to investors, but helps Venture Capital and Angel Investors quickly identify worthwhile investment opportunities. Many of the judges request additional information and meetings with the participating companies. FundingPost expects to duplicate its success from previous Pitching Across America events again this year.
The emerging companies? executive summaries will be evaluated on a scale of 1 to 10. Judging criteria consist of several key points including: the professionalism of the written summary, current stage of development (customers, revenue), competitive advantage and need in the marketplace, feasibility for success, and whether the company is ?VentureWorthy(TM).?
?We are excited to be running Pitching Across America again this year! In these tough times we have been seeing an increase in entrepreneurs looking to raise capital, and despite the economic climate there are still plenty of investors actively seeking deals,? said Joe Rubin, Director, Fundingost. ?Pitching Across America(TM) offers start-ups a great opportunity to get their business plan in front of the right people. The response from both entrepreneurs and the venture community regarding the value of the competition in past years has been tremendous. We look forward to another successful competition.?
The 2008 National Winner of Pitching Across America was iCopyright (http://www.iCopyright.com). iCopyright solves a problem that is common for online publishers: Allowing users to copy or share articles quickly and easily while protecting and tracking the publisher?s content on the World Wide Web. iCopyright is used by Advanstar, Associated Press, Boston Globe, Cygnus Business Media, Globe & Mail, Investors Business Daily, Penton Media, Reuters, SourceMedia and many other publishers. Since the announcement as Top Emerging Company, CEO, Mike O?Donnell, reported iCopyright has raised $ 1.2M.

YAOUNDE (Reuters) - Seven Cameroon athletes have disappeared while in Britain for the London Olympics, the Ministry of Sports and Physical Education said on Monday evening.
The seven - five boxers, a swimmer and a soccer player - are suspected of having left to stay in Europe for economic reasons.
"What began as rumor has finally turned out to be true. Seven Cameroonian athletes who participated at the 2012 London Olympic Games have disappeared from the Olympic Village," David Ojong, the mission head said in a message sent to the ministry.
Ojong said a reserve goalkeeper for the women's soccer team, Drusille Ngako, was the first to disappear. She was not one of the 18 finally retained after pre-Olympic training in Scotland.
While her team-mates left for Coventry for their last preparatory encounter against New Zealand, she vanished. A few days later, swimmer Paul Ekane Edingue and his personal belongings were also not found in his room.
Ojong added that five boxers eliminated from the games, Thomas Essomba, Christian Donfack Adjoufack, Abdon Mewoli, Blaise Yepmou Mendouo and Serge Ambomo, disappeared on Sunday from the Olympic village.
International Olympic Committee officials said on Tuesday they had heard nothing about the missing athletes.
"We are unaware of it," IOC spokesman Mark Adams said when asked whether organizers had heard of it.
It is not the first time Cameroonian athletes have disappeared during international sports competitions.
At past Francophonie and Commonwealth games as well as junior soccer competitions, several Cameroonians have quit their delegation without official consent.

Apple has been filing more than its fair share of NFC-related patents, but it was just granted what could be one of its more important wins at the USPTO. The design for an "on-the-go shopping list" app would help buyers find and pull the trigger on deals through every tool an iPhone has at its disposal, whether it's taking a snapshot of goods with the camera, punching in the UPC code by hand or tapping an item for an NFC-based "touch scan." We'll admit that we're a bit disappointed at how NFC is used, however. As with an earlier filing, the very short range wireless is kept largely to price comparisons and adding products to a list for a purchase from a store clerk later on, rather than closing the deal outright as we've seen with Google Wallet. The original 2008 filing date will also have seen a lot of water flowing under the bridge; there's no guarantee that any enthusiasm for NFC from the iPhone 3G era will have transferred to the present day. Accordingly, we would be careful about drawing any connections between iOS 6's Passbook and Apple's ideas from four years ago -- even if Apple has regularly been a never-say-never sort of company.

Sprint marked down its pricing on the iPhone 4S today, in what will only be assumed as preparation for the launch of the long-rumored iPhone 5.
All Things D caught the change today, noting that there are rumors Apple is holding a press event in early September. Sprint changed its pricing for the 16GB iPhone 4S from $200 to $150 and free activation for ordering online. It also placed a promotion for the new pricing on its home page with a tagline that reads, ?Get the most amazing iPhone yet at our most amazing price ever.?
Apple is expected to launch its next iPhone in fall, the same launch time frame the company gave for its latest operating system iOS 6. The two are usually announced together, though Apple deviated from the normal iPhone launch when it released the iPhone 4S in October, as opposed to June during its Worldwide Developers Conference. This year?s WWDC did include the announcement of iOS 6, which will include Facebook integration, a new maps app, and a number of other changes.
The latest change was discovered today when Apple released its fourth test-version of iOS 6 to developers. Apple releases early versions of the operating system so developers can find bugs or issues in the system and report them to Apple. It seems the company got rid of the YouTube application, which shipped with all of the iOS versions to date. Yet another example of the riff between Google and Apple.
